Immigration consistently has been discussed in politics.
The liberals believe that we should relax the laws on immigration and let more people into the country. They think that they have just as much right to live here as we do. They also think they will be productive members of society.
The conservatives think that we should not let more people in here. They think that we should build a wall to keep the illegal aliens out.
I think that we should keep the laws the way they are.

School Prayer Discussion
School prayer is a controversial topic and can promote a lot of different opinions.
The liberals believe that prayer in school should not be allowed and that it does not promote freedom of religion by having one religion seem like the "norm" since the school sponsors it. The liberals also believe that church and stat should be completely separate.
The conservatives think that prayer in school should be allowed and that it does not have negative effects. They think it can cause unity between people and promote a more positive experience. They think that students should be allowed religious expression.
I think that they should not have prayer in school since the country is pretty big on separation of church and state.

Gay Marriage Discussion
Gay marriage has been getting a lot more recent media attention. Apparently California just legalized it. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/18/us/18gay.html?ref=us
The conservatives believe that letting gays marry ruins the sanctity of marriage. Also they believe that they will not be as good parents as a normal couple and that their kids will have a difficult time. In addition they believe that it unnatural for 2 people of the same gender to get married. Religion comes into play for this topic, very religious people often cite the bible as not allowing gay marriage.

Liberals believe that it is a womans choice on what she does with her body. Their position is most often called pro-choice.
Conservatives believe that people should not have a right to choose and that abortion in murder and should not be allowed.
I am pro-choice. I think that if someone doesn't want to have a baby they shouldn't have to, and if they are forced to have they are just going to give it up for adoption or do a bad job raising it.

Does T-pain represent our generation's values
I would not say that T-pain represents our generation's values. Most of the songs he performs on are where he is a featured artist so I doubt he writes a lot of his lyrics. Also he frequently performs only in th chorus where he says a lot of repetitive lyrics so I doubt he puts a lot of his values into the limited time he usually performs on songs. But if I had to, I would say that T-Pain, through his songs, mostly values women since that is what his lyrics are mostly about.

I think the lyrics are mostly talking about the artists dream of what a perfect life would be like.
I don't think the lyrics apply to me very much because the main reason I like the song it because of the beat and the vocals, not the message.
I actually first heard this song in an episode of entourage. Kanye west was guest starring on the episode and this song was playing during the end credits. Immediately after that I tried to figure out that name of this song. The reason I chose this song was because it was my favorite song by T-pain even though he is not the main artist and has very few lines in this song.
I don't identify with the lyrics very much but the lyrics talk about how he likes fancy things which is something most people can identify with.
I still think it is a good song, but I didn't know it had as many explicit words and themes in it until now.

Elvis Movie
The movie about elvis that we watched showed a lot about how people of that generation thought and what their values were. Many of the elder people of the time were more subdued and tried to put their values on the younger generation. Elvis Presley was very rebellious and in the way he acted inspired rebellion among the younger generation. I thought that Elvis was very important and influential in the early forming of the rock and roll genre. He bridged the gap between blacks and whites, at least in terms of music.
